The Thirty Nine Steps by John Buchan
This book is in the thriller genre. It keeps the book on the edge of your palms. The length is 100 pages plus, and that is not the only reason this book can be read at a single stretch. The narrative and sharp dialogues, comments, and thoughts make it a book for a single session read.
The plot is set in World War I, and attempts of Richard Hannay, the principal character to prevent an assassination and Germans secretly invading Britain.
This is a must read novel, and more so if you are a thriller fan.
Please remember this book was written a hundred years ago. Thus, don't judge the possibility of this plot with today's technological development.
